So how much time do we need off WORK?

Keep in mind we have several weekend days that take up our trip... So we won't need to take off 16 days. But it might be good practice for us to pretend we do, just so we have more than enough time saved up, since we might need to use up time for unexpected reasons before the trip.

There are a total of four weekend days during out trip... So we need exactly 12 days we can take off of work. This is also assuming we all take the 3rd of November off to rest.

How many days are we paying for out stay at the Motel 6 in Chicago...? 1 day.

How many days of that are we paying for The New Otani...? 12 days.

Preliminary Dates

I was bored at work one day, so I thought I would look at the 2010 calendar and come up with preliminary dates that might we good for our upcoming Japan trip! It will be a similar time of year as the last time, but we will simply be staying longer, and staying at 1 hotel instead of 3 different ones.

Total time away from Springfield 16 days... October 19th - November 3rd (or 4th)

Let's break this down further:

October 19th : Take the train fairly early from Springfield to Chicago. Stay the night at the cheap Motel 6 which is not far from O'Hare Airport.

October 20th : Fly out of O'Hare Airport to Tokyo.

October 21st : Arrive at Narita Airport in Japan (the future!)

October 21st - November 2nd : Our stay in Akasaka (Tokyo) at The New Otani

November 2nd : Check out of The New Otani, Fly out of Narita to Chicago

November 2nd : Arrive at O'Hare Airport in Chicago (the past!)

November 3rd : Take off work to recover from jetlag, etc...
